O governo editou decreto que permite a importação e exportação de lítio e derivados. O objetivo é posicionar o Brasil no mercado global de baterias para veículos elétricos.

De acordo com o texto, publicado no Diário Oficial da União, as operações não estarão sujeitas a “critérios, restrições, limites ou condicionantes de qualquer natureza”. O instrumento revoga decretos anteriores, que condicionavam o comércio exterior do lítio à autorização prévia de órgãos do governo, como a Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear.

O lítio é um item essencial para a fabricação de baterias de veículos elétricos e também para sistemas de geração solar. Segundo o Ministério de Minas e Energia (MME), o objetivo é posicionar o Brasil de forma competitiva no mercado global e atrair investimentos para pesquisa e produção mineral, e para o avanço da capacidade produtiva em processamento e fabricação de componentes e baterias.

Battery market: Government releases lithium import and export

The government issued a decree that allows the import and export of lithium and its derivatives. The objective is to position Brazil in the global market for batteries for electric vehicles.

According to the text published in the Official Gazette of the Union, the operations will not be subject to “criteria, restrictions, limits or conditions of any nature”. The instrument revokes previous decrees, which conditioned the foreign trade of lithium to the prior authorization of government bodies, such as the National Nuclear Energy Commission.

Lithium is an essential item for the manufacture of electric vehicle batteries and also for solar generation systems. According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the objective is to position Brazil competitively in the global market and attract investments in mineral research and production, and for the advancement of production capacity in the processing and manufacturing of components and batteries.
