O Mercosul decidiu suspender até dezembro de 2025 a regra que limitava alterações na lista de exceções tarifárias adotadas por países do bloco para produtos importados.

Dessa forma, o bloco poderá aumentar o número de produtos que têm alíquotas mais vantajosas.

A Lista de Exceções à Tarifa Externa Comum (Letec) comporta até 100 itens da nomenclatura comum do bloco, sobre os quais é possível aplicar imposto de importação diferente da tarifa acordada entre os membros. Até então, para trocar os produtos desta lista era preciso obedecer ao limite semestral de 20%.

Com a suspensão da regra, os países poderão alterar 100% da lista tanto em 2024 quanto em 2025.

Mercosur makes the common import tariff more flexible until 2025

Mercosur decided to suspend until December 2025 the rule that limited changes to the list of tariff exceptions adopted by countries in the bloc for imported products.

In this way, the block will be able to increase the number of products that have more advantageous rates.

The List of Exceptions to the Common External Tariff (Letec, in Portuguese) contains up to 100 items from the bloc's common nomenclature, on which it is possible to apply an import tax different from the tariff agreed between the members. Until then, to exchange the products on this list it was necessary to comply with the 20% semi-annual limit.

With the suspension of the rule, countries will be able to change 100% of the list in both 2024 and 2025.
